I can't just let Ryan's post go unanswered.....

I have warned Heather that my midlife crisis is coming, and it has a name.

Evo.

You can see his big brother in action here.

Maybe you should have come upon your midlife crisis just a little earlier and you could have avoided the call to the bishopric. So far the car seems to have staved off any callings for Ryan. :)

Evo's are for people who wish they could drive their car with their laptop.

Real men drive with the traction control OFF.

Or for people who know they can't drive, but still want to go fast. Besides.....I like computers. Driving with my laptop sounds kind of cool....

Nothing against the Evo--it's a technological marvel.

I just worry that the super high levels of boost put tremendous pressure on the entire powertrain and will cause a maintenance nightmare. Not to mention the fact that you may need to reboot on your way down the backstretch...

I wonder how the Evo would do in Autocross. I think it would be tremendously difficult to keep the boost levels up in a low-speed event. A good driver could do it with a lot of heel-and-toe downshifting. Evo's and STI's do really well when it is wet and they can take advantage of the AWD.

If you watch this video, you will see just how pathetic the evo really is once you get off boost.
(Actually, start ~5:45 in. The rest is identical to the other video I posted).

But when on boost, amazing things happen.
